Um, no. No. No. I assume it's the only place to eat on the mountain which makes me wonder where the overnight guests eat. Maybe they pack their own food along. Service was incredibly slow. The restaurant was out of many things. Ordered spicy beef. 25 minutes later the waiter came out to tell us they didn't have any beef. Ordered the nachos instead. They were the worst I've ever had in my life. How do you mess up nachos? We told some friends about the beautiful lodge and they wanted to go but then we told them the only place to eat was this restaurant and they decided not to visit the lodge after all.

I will start with mesmerizing view from outside. Experienced staff who figures out what you would like just but little chit chat. Fabulous food even for vegetarians. Tomato soup blew my mind as it was spicy I was not expecting such spicy in an American restaurant. By spicy I meant flavor of spices not the one that just hit to burn your taste buds. Honey butter and bread while you wait is something you can't stop eating both melted in mouth. Chocolate cake was too chocolaty but not too sweet and portion was too generous. Drive is though country side and as if really remote but lovely in the end.

For kids 4 and under, they get a free buffet with an adult buffet purchase. This place is hit and miss. Skip the steak! The bacon wrapped filet was over cooked and over priced. The breakfast buffet was pretty good and included a made to order omelet. Lunch is the same menu as dinner, but dinner they have a buffet and lunch they have a cheaper special. We loved the rolls with honey butter, and I enjoyed the chicken alfredo pasta. The nacho appetizer is huge and could feed two as a meal. Service was a little on the slower side, but if you're here, you are probably fine with that. The peanut butter pie is also huge and yummy.

We ate dinner one night and breakfast the next morning here. Both times, we got the buffet. The dinner buffet was surf & turf, and included peel & eat shrimp, coconut shrimp, bacon-wrapped quail, frog legs, and prime rib, among other things. The salad bar portion was small but fresh. There were several dessert options. I tried a brownie and a mousse pie. All of the food was tasty and service was adequate.

Another thing we appreciated was that the staff always tried to seat us close to the large bay windows without our having to request it. It makes their job a tiny bit harder but they don't let that keep them from trying to make it a good experience for the guests.

At both meals, we noticed that it sometimes took a while for items on the buffet line to get refilled. They might need to consider adding more staff if they have a lot of trouble keeping up.

The breakfast bar had the normal options: bacon, sausage, eggs prepared a couple different ways, biscuits, gravy, fruit. Coffee was not included. I thought it was okay; but then, I'm not a big breakfast food person. Some of the fruit was not quite ripe enough. My husband enjoyed it. I think others have said they thought the eggs were powdered. We thought they were fresh. Service at breakfast was adequate as well.

We went to Mt Magazine to see the solar eclipse, so it was pretty busy. Tje staff was efficient and friendly and not at all harried or rushed. The food was not nearly as expensive as I expected, and it was excellent.
